Plant Sharing

I'm happy to pot things up for pick up.
I also have lots of non natives that I'll be offering up before I move, so I will be periodically adding to this list. I'm not sure when I'm moving yet.

"Obedient Plant" , Physostegia virginiana

I have it panted in partial sun and it does pretty well mostly unattended. I do have some drip lines that I run during summer for most of my plants, so they get some of that. I have some planted in deeper shade and they look pretty rough mid summer, mostly just lanky. They are spreading into sunnier spots. They reseed, but they mostly spread through runners. They are easy to pull if they get to be annoying.

Engelmann daisy, Engelmannia pinnatifida

Transplanted to my yard before the prairie near my house became parking lots and apartments. Prefers full sun

White Veined Dutchman's Pipe vine, Aristolochia fimbriata
• not native

Reseeds readily and seems to be pretty happy in pretty dense shade
I planted it for the black pipevine swallowtails to have somewhere to put their caterpillars and it is overrun every single year, ususally multiple times a year. They eat it down to the ground. It's a ground sprawling vine.

I'd love to find some Aristolochia reticulata pipevine which is native to central texas if anyone has any.

Rock Rose, Pavonia lasiopetala

Full sun, putting up with partial shade but doesn't look its best there. Reseeds and spreads very easily.

Yarrow, Achillea millefolium

Fluffy, cute and resilient. Tastes horrible. Puts up with shade and sun and made it through the ice storm unscathed. Its putting out new plants all around it.

Snake Herb, Dyschoriste linearis

I really love this one. Its been kind of slow growing, but it's very dense, and at its tallest, it's about 8 inches. It makes for a nice ground cover. I've had it for a few years, and it went from an isolated 5-inch patch to now a patch that is around 2 ft+.

I transplanted this from a prairie near my house that is now a new housing development.

I have already propagated some of these, but I need to dig them up and pot them if anyone wants them.

Flame Acanthus, Hummingbird Bush, Anisacanthus quadrifidus

Prefers full sun. It will put up with partial shade but it will get wildly out of control trying to get into the sun. Swallowtail butterflies and hummingbirds love it.

Golden Leadball Tree, Leucaena retusa
• native

I have tons of seeds for this tree. I may see some saplings springing up and will dig them up and pot them if I do.

Mexican Buckeye,  Ungnadia speciosa

I have seen a couple of saplings near my tree coming up and I also have tons of seeds.

Chili pequin, Capsicum annuum

I have volunteers popping up around the yard in places where they will have to be moved. I have had one growing in the same spot for 4+ years and it comes back every year after winter.
